Larry Kopald

For two decades Larry has led a dual life. Considered a leading brand architect, Larry has spent over twenty years at some of the world’s leading advertising agencies, representing the worlds’ largest companies. Coming up on the creative side of the business, he soon became involved in managing and running large staffs overseeing multiple clients. He has overseen advertising for companies ranging from McDonalds and Coca Cola to Oracle, American Express, Acura, United Airlines and Universal Studios. Larry helped launch such billion dollar brands as Acura automobiles, Huggies diapers, Oracle, and Chicken McNuggets.
But during this time Larry has also been a leader in the environmental movement, working with environmental, scientific, corporate, and both NGO and governmental agencies involved in efforts to improve the planet and encourage more sustainable ways of operating. Most likely the only person ever celebrated by both Adweek and the United Nations for his work for the planet, Larry has run ECO, Hollywood’s environmental organization, for over a decade. He serves on boards and advisory boards of groups as diverse as Oceana, the Union of Concerned Scientists, the WILD Foundation, the International League of Conservation Photographers, and the Center For Conscious Evolution. He has done the environmental communications for the Olympics and the United Nations, the latter of which honored him at the UN in 2002 for his efforts on behalf of the planet. Currently Larry works with leading experts in the areas of energy, climate change, sustainable supply chain operations, food production and distribution, management of resources, and provides strategic consulting to corporations on how to migrate into greener companies while benefiting both the bottom line and their brand equity.
The advertising agencies Larry has worked at include Ogilvy & Mather (NY), DDB and Leo Burnett (Chicago) and Foote, Cone, and Belding (LA) where he oversaw nearly 500 employees and $500,000,000.00 in annual billings. A partial list of clients includes Pepsi, Merrill Lynch, Budweiser, P&G, American Express, Mirage Resorts, Harrah’s Entertainment, Mazda, Taco Bell, Hershey’s, Sony, Toshiba, Major League Baseball, General Mills, DHL, Avon, and many others.
In 1997 Larry was one of four partners behind THINK New Ideas, one of the first companies to combine traditional advertising with the emerging technology revolution. THINK grew to nine offices and 700 employees before being sold. As a result of THINK’s unique knowledge of technology and marketing, they worked for nearly 40% of the Fortune 100.
Larry also serves on the board of the Museum of Broadcasting, is a member of the Television Academy and has been nominated for Grammys and Emmys. He currently lives with his family in Bel Air, California.
