Bob Talbot

Bob TalbotBob Talbot is world-renowned marine photographer and cinematographer, award-winning film-maker, marine conservationist and animal rights advocate. Throughout his years working to photograph the whales and dolphins in the open seas, he has made it his life’s work to foster a respect for animals and to fight to protect their habitat.

Bob was presented the Ark Trust Genesis Award and he is the recipient of The Environmental Hero Award presented by the United States Department of Commerce and in 1995. He is a board member of the American Oceans Campaign, Earth Communications Office, and Sea Shepherd Conservation Society. He donates a portion of the proceeds from the sales of his posters to the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and the American Oceans Campaign and continues to work with the Cousteau Society and International Wildlife Coalition and others by donating images, time, funds and most importantly, a voice for marine life.

His photographs have been published in books and magazines such as Audubon, Time, National Geographic, American Photographer, Outdoor Photographer, BBC Wildlife, Natural History and National Wildlife, as well as other publications. His popular images of whales and dolphins have been reproduced into millions of lithographs, which remain the top-selling line of marine mammal posters in the world.

He has worked as cinematographer for television productions such as CBS's Dolphins, Whales and Us, and ABC's World Discovery episode, Beautiful Killers, as well as on Discovery Channel, PBS productions and several Cousteau Society specials. Bobt has worked in the film medium since 1979. He filmed the wildlife sequences for the Warner Bros. series of Free Willy feature films and Universal Pictures' Flipper. He directed and photographed the IMAX® RidefilmTM motion simulation system film, Dolphins- the Ride and acted as director and cinematographer for sequences in the Academy Award nominated MacGillivray Freeman IMAX® film, Dolphins. Most recently, he directed and photographed the IMAX® film Ocean Men.
