NMSF and Partners Promote Ocean Awareness
October 4, 2006Washington, DC – The Advertising Council announces today in partnership with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Environmental Defense and The Walt Disney Studios’ Buena Vista Worldwide Home Entertainment Division, the launch of a multi-media public service advertising (PSA) campaign designed to encourage all Americans to protect the oceans from the devastation of marine debris.
NMSF Announced White Water to Blue Water Grant Recipients
August 1, 2006Washington, DC – The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) announced the award of White Water to Blue Water (WW2BW) Partnership Initiative grants designed to foster innovative partnerships to encourage cooperation, build sustainable development processes and improve environmental impacts in the Gulf of Mexico and The Wider Caribbean. Eleven grants totaling nearly $300,000 were awarded for projects ranging from $13,750 - $25,000.
2006 Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund Recipients
July 24, 2006The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation announced the award of nine grants ranging from $10,000 - $25,000 for projects totaling $150,000 from the Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund. These projects will increase the public’s awareness of issues related to our ocean, including marine debris, human interaction with marine mammals, pollution and the connection between the ocean and human health.

June 14, 2006Washington, DC – In recognition of her exhaustive efforts to protect the coral reefs of Hawaii and her leadership towards designating the Northwestern Hawaiian Islands (NWHI) a national marine sanctuary, Linda Paul was honored as the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) Volunteer of the Year during a June 13th dinner at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC.

Watkins (Ret.) was honored with the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF) Lifetime Achievement Award during a June 13th dinner at the Ronald Reagan Building in Washington, DC. Watkins will receive the award with former Clinton White House Chief of Staff and fellow Joint Ocean Commission Initiative Co-Chair, The Honorable Leon Panetta.
