Joy Williams - Vice President and Chief Development Officer
A seasoned corporate communicator and fundraiser, Joy A. Williams has a breadth of experience in non-profit management that she brings to the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
Previously, Joy held the position of Director of Communications for Girl Scouts of the USA, where she was responsible for overseeing all national media placements, video and PSA production, formal speeches and remarks for GSUSA spokespersons, and a majority of written communiqués for internal and external audiences. Joy managed a staff of eleven and an annual budget of more than two-million-dollars. Under her direction, GSUSA achieved an unprecedented number of national media hits in a single year, started a collaborative PSA campaign with The Ad Council, and oversaw all branding and messaging for a triennial national convention attended by 12,000 people.
Joy previously served as the Development Manager of the American fundraising arm of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, which annually raised over two-million-dollars for the Orchestra. In addition, she served as lead speechwriter to the President of the Culinary Institute of America, located in Hyde Park, New York. Joy also spent two years in the for-profit arena as a writer in the marketing department of the world’s largest health benefits consulting company.
Joy received both her Master’s degree in Public Administration and her Bachelor’s degree in English/Writing from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York.
